Raised on stories,
built for clarity.
Ellen Hudson-O’Brien helps healthcare leaders communicate with the clarity, confidence and humanity their audiences need, especially when the message is complex or the stakes are high.
Meet Ellen
As the daughter of a nurse and a television news reporter, Ellen grew up seeing two different forms of communication at work. She watched her mother make complicated health information understandable while helping patients feel at ease, and her father tell stories that captured viewers’ attention and helped them connect with the people at their center. Together, their influence shaped Ellen’s belief that effective communication must create both clarity and connection.
Ellen began her career in agency public relations before spending seven years at UnitedHealthcare, one of the nation’s largest healthcare organizations. There, she led communications during high-stakes situations and coached C-suite leaders to communicate clearly under pressure.
In 2021, Ellen founded Hudsons Media, bringing together her healthcare communications expertise and experience preparing senior leaders for high-stakes moments. During the company’s first five years, her father, longtime television reporter Bill Hudson, served as a senior strategic partner, contributing his decades of journalism experience to media trainings and client engagements. Although Bill has since retired, his reporter’s perspective remains part of the company’s foundation: find the heart of the story, make complex information clear and communicate in a way that feels genuinely human.
Today, Ellen has trained more than 250 healthcare executives and clinicians to make complex ideas understandable, earn the trust of their audiences and communicate in a way that remains distinctly their own.
What my clients have to say
“I really enjoyed the media training. It was informative and enjoyable. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the presentation was calming and easygoing. The information will be helpful to me as I continue to engage the community.”
